Norwich, United Kingdom Norfolk County Council Full time

**Permanent Contract | £32,909 to £34,723 per annum (Scale I) | 37 hours per week | County Hall, Norwich
Are you passionate about working with communities and partner organisations to find sustainable solutions to flood risk problems? Are you looking for the next step on the career ladder? Or currently working in a related field and looking for a new challenge?

By choosing our Flood and Water Team at Norfolk County Council you will be joining an organisation which is striving to provide employees with a positive employment experience. We can offer a considerable variety of challenges in your diverse workload, and you will be offered real opportunities for career development.

This role within the Flood and Water team, as the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), covers three main areas of work:

- Develop, manage and monitor flood alleviation studies and schemes, which will include partnership working and bidding for external funding.
- Investigate and report on significant flood events. Develop and maintain a computerised register of assets. Update flood risk policies and studies. Provide technical support and advice for works that affect ordinary watercourses.

This post is predominantly involved in assisting the delivery of studies and schemes to benefit communities and businesses in Norfolk who suffer from flooding. However, there will be opportunities to work within the wider scope of the LLFA roles, and it is expected that if appointed, you will have a flexible approach to undertaking related work as dictated by the needs of the business.

This role would suit someone with project management experience from an environmental, landscape or engineering background, who enjoys engaging and working alongside landowners and partners and can communicate effectively and sensitively with a wide range of audiences. A grounded understanding of civil engineering and hydrology is essential, linking to an appreciation of hydraulic modelling. Applicants should also have experience of undertaking relevant fieldwork, surveying, and working with GIS systems.

In return we can offer a varied caseload, training and support to increase your technical competence, and achieve your professional goals.

Norfolk County Council also offers flexible working arrangements, a local government pension, generous annual leave, and a comprehensive package of staff benefits through the Norfolk Rewards Scheme.

For an informal discussion regarding the role please call 0344 800 8020 and ask for Mark Ogden - Flood & Water Manager or Steve Halls - Senior Flood Risk Officer.

We want our people to be inspired and motivated to work well together, make the most of our workspaces, enjoy a healthy work-life balance, and deliver excellent services to Norfolk and its people. Flexibility is built into the way we work, with hybrid working a key feature for many roles. Our technology platform and equipment are first class, enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good Broadband connectivity.
