**Role Purpose**:
Working as a Healthy Lifestyle Advisor for our FAB service at ‘Your Health Your way
- Notts’ you will be working with children and young people (CYP), families, and BAME communities to support, motivate and advise thosewho are currently overweight or obese and aim to engage them into healthier lifestyles and becoming more active. You will be passionate about working with individuals and groups to begin the life changing processes necessary for permanent and continued weight management, better health, and improved general wellbeing..

You will be joining a large team of behaviour change specialists in ABL Health including specialist lifestyle coaches, nutritionists, dietitians, GP’s, psychotherapists and exercise specialists to deliver evidence based, holistic and realistic weight management and physical activity to people in the community.

You will understand challenges and barriers that CYP, families and BAME communities face with relation to their health (both physical and mental) and wellbeing. You will engage with and build a good rapport with families from varying communities across Nottinghamshire.

You will deliver our existing programmes of weight management as well as supporting the development of new nutrition and exercise programmes that meet the needs of our clients.

**Some of the essential criteria for the role**:

- Educated to degree level or relevant equivalent experience (health/social care/nutrition/public health/ community development/ child education)
- AfN registered or working towards registration
- At least 2 years’ experience of working with children, young people and families in diverse communities and with multiple partners.
- Experience working with hard-to-reach groups and tackling health inequalities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly with people
- The ability to travel independently across Nottinghamshire
- Work flexibly and adapt to suit service need
- including evenings and weekend work where required

- Family Weight Management (FAB- Food, Activity, Balance)

ABL Health and Nottinghamshire County Council are partnering to deliver the Health Improvement and
Weight Management Service titled Your Health Your Way Nottinghamshire. The Family Weight Management
department have created an exciting program, FAB (Food, Activity, Balance) which plays a vital role in bringing
previously separate lifestyle behaviour change functions together into one service. We work closely within
families to improve relationships between food and physical activity, thus improving the health status of the
local population. The service also provides integrated behaviour support for smoking cessation, weight
management, alcohol reduction, physical activity, cooking and Health MOTs, all embedded in sustainable
behaviour change and positive wellbeing.
