We’re looking for someone with excellent communications skills to join us as Senior Marketing & Communications Officer at Avebury World Heritage Site; someone who knows how to get others excited about and engaged with our work and the incredible places we care for in the Wiltshire Landscape portfolio.

As a full-time option, this position comprises 30 hours per week (4 days) focusing on the core MarComms role and an additional 7.5 hours (1 day) per week supporting the property’s audience insight work and development planning.

What it's like to work here:As Senior Marketing & Communications Officer, you will be based at Avebury and be responsible for Marcomms across 12 stunning sites in the Wiltshire Landscape portfolio. You will lead the delivery of the Communications & Marketing Plan, raising awareness of and engaging people with the conservation work at Avebury and in our wider portfolio. Avebury is a complex, and very special place. It’s a World Heritage Site covering more than 6,000 years of history. At its heart is Europe’s largest megalithic stone circle which attracts people from all over the world. There is also an on-site museum displaying archaeological finds and explaining the history of the site, a sixteenth-century manor house and the six-acre Edwardian Garden. The site also features a National Trust shop, the Circles Restaurant, a holiday cottage, plus a variety of tenanted properties, and farms set in and around the village itself. All this within a designated World Heritage Site

What you'll be doing:You’ll be responsible for delivering the Communications & Marketing plan for the Wiltshire Landscape portfolio, by:

- Raising awareness of our work by sharing successes across our digital channels and on site.
- Encouraging people to get out into the landscape, to make the most of what we have to offer and to share their experiences with others.
- Supporting and promoting Avebury Manor and Garden, the Alexander Keiller Museum, our Restaurant and Shop, our research projects and our programming activities, to increase visitors and create engagement
- Inspiring people to engage with us, to connect with our work and with nature, and to become advocates for the National Trust, through volunteering, membership, donations and legacies
- Nurturing an inclusive attitude through every part of our communications and actively seek ways to make the site more accessible for all.

- Practical experience in a communications and marketing role or in some aspects of communications and marketing.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an ability to write copy and proof-read with attention to detail.
- Understanding of how to handle press enquiries and the ability to spot a potential story.
- The ability to identify potential risks to reputation, handle contentious and sensitive information and escalate risks accordingly.
