G.A.P. Convenience Distribution Ltd. is best known as a trusted supplier to garage forecourts and convenience stores across the North West. Based from our purpose built warehouse and distribution centre on the outskirts of Preston, we also have a successful ecommerce business selling toys, supplies and greeting cards as well as a marine supply company that forms part of our ecommerce business.

**About the Role**

We have a great role for a buyer to join us and focus general merchandise including Toys and Plush items to be featured across our websites. We need someone with a passion for building relationships with new brands and suppliers, who wants to be involved in a growing business and have the autonomy to make a real impact.

**What will I be doing?**

Your job will be pivotal in providing commercial support for all aspects of the product buying process.
- Manage the trading performance of multiple categories including maximising sales growth, profit margin and product availability.
- Select and source relevant products and ranges, and effective exit strategies and are implemented across the business.
- Develop and execute a promotional and seasonal plan to deliver profitable sales growth.
- Conduct supplier negotiations to deliver products and promotions that are competitively priced.
- Develop supplier relationships to identify areas where greater savings or business advantage could be made.
- Accurately forecast key promotions and seasonal activity and liaise with suppliers and Stock Replenishment team to ensure maximisation of service level

**A Few Things About You**

Alongside a keen interest in the toy market, you will need a flexible approach and strong negotiation, communications and organisational skills. You will have a natural ability to build effective working relationships enabling you to successfully liaise between our internal team and suppliers.
- Experience in retail buying/ relevant commercial roles.
- Proven track record of results delivery and achieving financial targets.
- Energetic, enthusiastic and drive to deliver results.
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and decision making ability.
- Ability to influence colleagues, customers and suppliers at all levels.
