**Job Summary**

The post holder will be responsible for leading the activities delivered in Oxford Head Injury Services’ (OHIS) Activity and Rehabilitation Centre (ARC).

**Principal areas of Activity**
- To oversee, develop and deliver of meaningful a programme of positive and enabling activities to those affected by a brain injury, within the Activity and Rehabilitation Centre (ARC).
- To provide support for clients with varying needs in their recovery, wellbeing, independence and autonomy.
- To assist management in the continued development and improvement of these services.
- To ensure that the activity center well organised, welcoming and safe.

To manage the ARC assistants.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- To collaborate with individuals their family’s and carers and professionals to generate personalised ‘enablement plans’ that reflect the needs and wants of individuals with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and assist in their rehabilitation and independence.
- To be responsible for ensuring that activities are safely delivered and that health & safety and safeguarding policies are adhered to.
- To ensure the safety of all service users by completing accurate risk assessments and by following health and safety and safeguarding policies and procedures.
- To co-ordinate the incoming referrals for support planning and activity programmes.
- To sign post to other organisations or agencies, which may benefit the rehabilitation or independence of individuals with ABI.
- To sign post individuals to other elements of OHIS support services as required and appropriate.
- To consult with Oxford Head Injury Services therapy services and co-ordinate referrals into these services in line with individuals support plans and rehabilitation needs.
- To keep accurate and timely records of all clients seen, visits made and outcomes, both written and on Oxford Head Injury Services database as required.
- To write department reports as required.
- To keep abreast of developments and initiatives that would benefit the people who use the OHIS services.

**Person Specification**

**Attributes - Education**

Essential: Proficient level of general education including Maths and English GCSEs

Desirable: Qualification in care or rehabilitation

**Attributes - Skills, Knowledge & Competencies**
Essential:
Experience of collaborating with people with a disability in a paid, volunteer or carer capacity.

Experience in organising meaningful activities aimed at improving individual’s life skills.

Experience of writing support or care plans.

Experience of working with challenging behaviours in group and/or 1-1 settings.

Ability to communicate at all levels, verbally and in writing.

Desirable:
Experience of collaborating with people with a brain injury.

Experience of advice work, advocacy, or counselling.

Essential:
Ability to work flexibly, as part of a team

Confidence and ability to deal with people at all levels with tact and diplomacy.

Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiative.

Oxford Head Injury Servies (OHIS) is a charity that has a life changing impact for service users and families. We are recruiting an Activity & Rehabilitation Centre Co-ordinator.

Our Purpose
We were established 35 years ago to support those who had suffered a brain injury and their carers. This includes head injury from traumatic incidents such as road accidents, violence and sports, or from neurological problems including encephalitis, haemorrhage, tumours and stroke. All the types of support services that OHIS provides are essential to maximise recovery, adjustment and independence.
