We are currently looking to recruit an experienced and empathetic craft based Head Chef/Manager for this care home based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
The kitchen at this 56 bed residential care home provides a breakfast, lunch and supper service serving freshly prepared home cooked food to residents, visitors and staff seven days a week.
As the Head Chef/Manager, you will lead and manage the kitchen team ensuring a high standard of food is provided. You will be involved in menu planning and as some of the residents have particular dietary requirements, you will liaise with staff and familiesto ensure that all menus meet nutritional needs and any special dietary needs are catered for. You will manage all aspects of the kitchen ensuring food is prepared to a high standard, as well as working within budget and managing costs. A key part of the roleis to ensure due diligence as well as maintaining hygiene levels and COSHH within all areas of the catering department.
The role does require you to have a craft background as you will be hands on in the kitchen.
Due to the location, it is essential that you drive or have your own mode of transport.
Working hours will be 5/7 days (generally every other weekend), 40 hours per week (no late evenings).
- Be an experienced Head Chef or Chef Manager with a proven work history and previous management experience
- Ideally have worked within a quality hotel or similar environment
- Hold Intermediate Food Handling Certificate & NVQ II/III or equivalent in Catering
- Be financially aware and able to manage a budget and costs
- Be able to lead, manage and develop a team whilst working as a team player
- Be hands on in the kitchen
- Have excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with residents, families and staff
- Be able to follow procedures and due diligence
- Be friendly and approachable with an empathetic manner and positive can do attitude
