Role: Financial Controller
Location: Whitstable
**Salary**: £40-55k
Main Roles and Responsibilities;
- Establishing and executing internal financial controls.
- Supporting the Financial Manager and the Finance team with monthly reconciliation tasks and contributing to the preparation of accurate Monthly Management Accounts within monthly reporting deadlines for the four group companies.
- Completing the monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Managing bank reconciliations and monthly Credit Card expenditure.
- Liaising with various departments on financial expenditure and budgets.
- KPI's reported monthly.
- Preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Utilisation of accounts system and monitoring of profit and loss.
- Preparation and collation of information for VAT return.
- Manage production of annual operational and salary cost budget and forecasts, report actuals against plan and manage monthly / quarterly re-forecasting.
- Introduce a culture of continuous improvement to Finance Operations. Maximise the effectiveness of finance processes, reporting systems and the financial control framework.
- Provide reports that support the business cost improvement strategy and work closely with the supply chain.
- Development of internal systems to allow more detailed analysis of profitability by product line.
- Provide Financial Manager with concise, and clear updates and ensure all issues are escalated in a timely manner.
- Support Financial Manager in ensuring a strong controls environment.
- Support Financial Manager in adherence to deadlines to support wider group reporting requirements.
- Manage cash flow for the individual operating businesses, monitoring funds and bank transactions.
- Controlling the various business accounts and portals, such as PAYE, credit cards and business accounts.
- Experience in producing quality cost reports, business planning and forecasting.
- Significant experience in management of cost reporting and analysis.
- Experience of team management and development.
- Excel proficiency.
- Previous experience working with QuickBooks Online would be of benefit but is not essential.
Being part of the senior management team, the Financial Controller will bring with them experience of holding a similar position in the past, working knowledge of finance systems, a solid understanding of PAYE, VAT and corporation tax along with a ACA, ACCA,CIMA or equivalent qualification.
