**THE POST**

To support the Club by assisting in preparation and maintenance of all playing and practise areas under the direction of Head Groundsman and to support the Ground staff team.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Grounds Maintenance**
- Assist with maintenance and preparation of all playing and practise areas to a level befitting a first-class Cricket Club and the Home of Cricket
- Repairing foot holes
- Cutting outfield
- Haulage of covers on and off
- Watering outfield and pitches
- Rolling of playing and practice pitches
- Operate equipment as requested by Head Groundsman, i.e. rollers, Tractors, Gators, Mowers and other vehicles, tools and various equipment
- Assist where necessary with the upkeep and maintenance of various tools and machinery and equipment
- Learn and improve necessary skills relating to use of technical equipment and general groundmanship through on the job learning and external courses
- Assist with any other requested activities in and around the ground with the agreement of the Head Groundsman
- Uphold a clean and safe environment at all times
- Provide a helpful and professional service to players, managers and other users of the ground

HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Responsible for the safety of yourself and others through adherence to MCC (and legal) safety rules and procedures.
- Report any unsafe practices, equipment or circumstances as appropriate.
- Comply fully with relevant security policies and procedures.
- Be familiar with fire procedures and evacuation procedures and be prepared to operate when/if trained as a Fire Warden

**What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?**
- During your time at our College you will be collating evidence of learning, be observed and receive training as to how we do things
- This is averaged over a 24 month period and includes time spent at the beginning of the programme completing ‘sign-up’ & functional skills assessment
- An assessor will visit you in the work-place every four to eight weeks.
- You will receive a Level 2 Diploma in Sports Turf on completion of your Apprenticeship
- One day a week at college
- English & Maths Functional Skills unless exempt

**What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?**

Possibility of a full time post upon completion of Apprenticeship.

**Working week**

Five shifts of nine hours rostered between Monday to Sunday, including one hour unpaid lunch on each day worked; making a total of 40 working hours per week.

You may be required to be on duty on major match days and on evenings/weekends. Lieu Days and overtime can be accrued.
