We have an exciting opportunity for an individual who would be interested in being a Housing Support Officer within Cluny Court Sheltered Housing Unit in Blairgowrie. This role is part of our Older Persons' Housing Team and involves supporting older adults in their tenancies within sheltered housing.

The services delivered at Cluny Court are done through a partnership arrangement between Cairn Housing Association and Perth and Kinross Council. Cluny Court is owned by Cairn Housing Association who oversee all the landlord responsibilities associated with the tenants and the building. The Housing Support Officer who works in Cluny Court is employed by Perth and Kinross Council.

Whilst you would be based at Cluny Court in Blairgowrie the majority of the time, you could also be required to work at any of our other sites throughout Perth and Kinross area to cover emergency situations.

You will deliver high quality services to older adults including practical support, assistance, advice and guidance and undertaking routine daily tasks to meet the needs of our tenants and the aims of our service. You will also have responsibility for reporting any issues within the building and be vigilant in terms of of health and safety for tenants and visitors.

You will be managed by the Co-ordinator for Older Persons' Housing Team and will work as part of a larger team of Housing Support Officers and auxiliaries located throughout the Perth and Kinross area.

You will work Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.15pm.

You should hold an SVQ2 in Social Services and Health Care and should be registered with or will be required to register with Scottish Social Services Council within 6 months of commencing employment. You are also responsible for paying your annual membership fee.

You should have experience of working in a housing/housing support/social care setting.

You should have experience of working with older adults.

You should be able to communicate effectively with tenants to build relationships with them and also with internal and external agencies and organisations to provide a person-centred approach and the best possible outcomes for individuals.

You should be a resilient, tenacious individual who can deal with the challenges and hurdles you may encounter and you should have strength of character and be solution-focused to work with individuals to help them achieve their goals and outcomes.

You will have a non-judgemental attitude, be empathetic and sensitive to tenants’ needs. You will understand and have an awareness of the wellbeing and individual needs of older people.

You should be a highly organised individual and have the ability to prioritise your own workload.

You will be required to use various computer systems and databases to keep accurate records and produce support plans and as such, you will need to have good digital skills. Good digital skills are required too to enable you to support tenants to become digitally included.

You should have a good awareness of Health and Safety Legislation including lone working, keeping yourself safe, the safety and security of building, infection control and manual handling.

You must be able to drive and hold a full, clean driving licence.
