An exciting opportunity is available for an exceptional individual to join our Ophthalmic Imaging & Diagnostics department as a Specialist Ophthalmic Science Practitioner, specialising in the Ophthalmology sub-specialty of Glaucoma.

You will be working in collaboration with a large Consultant led glaucoma service to ensure all glaucoma services provided by Outpatient services and the Department of Ophthalmic Imaging & Diagnostics, including the glaucoma virtual services, are operating smoothly, efficiently and with patient safety at the forefront.

You will be expected provide an efficient and effective service for a quality patient experience. There is a requirement in this role for you to be involved in research studies and teaching of patients, staff and the wider MDT.

The post holder will be working and liaise closely with Ophthalmic Imaging & Diagnostics department and the Glaucoma Consultants here at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. They will act as a main point of contact to aid in the delivery an efficient, responsive, effective and customer focused support service.

**The main duties will include**:
To be skilled in the full range of routine and specialised imaging techniques, requiring expert knowledge of Ophthalmic anatomy and disease, in order to demonstrate the condition correctly and to ensure that the correct type of imaging is used.

To be well versed in performing and analysing ophthalmic images using standard techniques and any other new techniques or devices deemed appropriate by the Head of Department and the Glaucoma service.

To liaise with other managers and healthcare professionals in the provision of services and work collaboratively on a day-to-day basis with others to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the service.

This role will be a core member of the department and will be responsible for ensuring a coordinated and comprehensive range of services are provided for all patients receiving active treatments for Glaucoma that are referred to MREH.
