Applications are invited for a Consultant in Clinical Genetics at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW). The appointed consultant will be based at St Michaels Hospital in Bristol and provide clinics to the population of Avon, Somerset, Gloucester & West Wiltshire, covering all aspects of Clinical Genetics including urgent and prenatal referrals, to support existing expertise of colleagues in the department. The post is based on a 5 day job plan of 10PAs, 8.5PAs for direct clinical care and 1.5SPA (Or pro rata if less than full time). This is a new post.

The Department of Clinical Genetics at UHBW has been providing specialist adult and paediatric genetic services since 1989. Our team includes eight consultants (6.7 wte), genetic counsellors and a dedicated administrative team. There are close clinical and academic links with many departments on the main UHBW site and at regional hospitals, including well-established MDT meetings. Peripheral clinics are provided by the consultant team across the region in South Bristol, Bath, Gloucester and Somerset.

This post offers the opportunity to work in a developing department within a major teaching and research hospital, with close links to the highly regarded University of Bristol Medical School, which is adjacent to the UHBW hospital site.

We are also able to offer a relocation package for this post, in line with the Trust redeployment policy.
