Warwick Medical School (WMS) runs the largest Graduate Entry Medicine (MB ChB) programme in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to join the academic leadership team for the Warwick MBChB, leading on the strategic development and delivery of General Practice (GP) education for the school. The post holder will also contribute to strategic planning around potential new curricula and course and placement expansion including new models of delivery for GP teaching.
The post is supported by the Academic Lead for Quality in Primary Care and Deputy Lead for General Practice. It focuses on leadership of the team of GP academic teachers and recruitment, retention and development of high quality practices to deliver GP teaching for the Warwick MBChB programme.
The post holder must be a working GP and have extensive experience and proof of excellence in general practice / community-based clinical education at undergraduate and / or postgraduate levels. They will also contribute more widely to the delivery and development of the MBChB course at Warwick and will engage in scholarship activity related to teaching and learning, general practice or community-based practice.
The post holder may also contribute to the teaching and assessment of the Masters in Medical Education Programme.

**JOB PURPOSE**
Undertake teaching in order to support the work of the department and develop and enhance its reputation, both internally and nationally, outside the University. Design, develop and deliver a range of programmes of study and contribute to the development of teaching and learning strategies.
The post holder will be a member of the senior team of the MB ChB, role also involves working alongside existing academic and administrative colleagues within the medical school and collaborate with clinical and senior management colleagues within the NHS. They will also collaborate nationally with General Practice teams from other medical schools and contribute to national medical education fora.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Managerial Administrative Responsibilities**
- To provide academic and strategic leadership to all contributors of GP Education, including WMS GP tutors, the network of practice-based tutors, and community-based teachers, including line management of the medical school team as required.
- To take responsibility for the effective delivery of the current GP course and integration with the associated secondary care and community elements, ensuring that the course meets all internal and external regulatory requirements.
- To be responsible for ensuring training of practice-based/community GP tutors and their annual updates.
- Ensure that HEE/NHSE GP tariff contracts are delivered effectively.
**Teaching and Learning**
- Undertake curriculum design and deliver material across a range of programmes of study at various levels, using appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment methods, reviewing and improving as required.
- Supervise student placements, projects and other activities as agreed.
- Be responsible for academic duties (i.e. setting examination questions, marking, invigilation and pastoral support of students) required to sustain the delivery of high quality teaching.
- Contribute to and, where appropriate, lead and develop Student Selected Components (SSCs).
- Contribute to question setting, standard setting and marking of assessments and examinations, especially those with a primary or community care focus.
- Contribute to relevant quality assurance activities as required.
- To make agreed contributions to Masters teaching including project/dissertation supervision and marking
**Administration and other activities**
- May contribute to the management or monitoring of budgets, and/or may contribute to the establishment and management of programme / departmental financial plans and budgets, in collaboration as appropriate.
- Contribute to the efficient management and administration of the Department, by performing administrative duties as allocated by the Chair and by taking on appropriate Departmental responsibilities including membership of educational committees within WMS and/or the University.
- Provide leadership to those working within programme areas, as course leader or equivalent, by for example, co-ordinating the work of others to ensure that courses are delivered effectively or organising the work of a team by agreeing objectives and work plans.
- Contribute to the development of teams and individuals through the appraisal system and providing advice on personal development.
- Act as a personal mentor to peers and colleagues.
- Contribute to and, where appropriate, lead other agreed administrative work.
**Research and Scholarship**
- May be called upon to contribute to the identification of sources of funding and the process of securing funds for scholarly activities.
