Operational Excellence - Associate 6 months Fixed Term Contract

An associate opportunity has arisen in our Market Oversight Directorate for a role to spend 6 months helping us enhance the way that we operate - including how we prioritise, how we make decisions, how we deploy staff and how we manage our work.

The Market Oversight Directorate is responsible for overseeing primary and secondary securities market activity through its role under the listing, market abuse and short-selling regimes

What that means is that we regulate the companies traded on the UK’s stock exchanges and the trading in their shares - that includes activities such as approving major IPOs and detecting market abuse in all its forms, from uncovering frauds to tackling insider dealing. The work is right at the heart of the UK’s financial markets.

What does the role involve?

A vacancy has arisen for an associate role to help us enhance our efficiency and effectiveness by:
- Assisting us in preparing and presenting our operational data so as to maximise the efficiency, effectiveness and impact of our work, driving better outcomes for markets and consumers- Improving the running of our operational and risk committees to drive better and more consistent inputs and ensuring that actions are followed up and completed- Helping to derive insights from our operational data, providing advice to functional managers and sharing ideas and best practice to encourage the production of management information that supports decision making- Taking oversight of our Quality Assurance work, ensuring that it is consistent across the whole of MO and that the work is both efficient and effective- Driving improvements in our external reporting, assisting in achieving our objectives to achieve a greater level of transparency about our work to build public confidence- Monitoring and gathering information to meet the many requests for information that we receive from internal and external stakeholders- Promoting the continual improvement of our approach to records management including supporting both system and procedural enhancements- Finding new ways to streamline our work and ensure that improvements are fully operationalised

The role offers a rare opportunity to take on a role in the heart of UK securities regulation, giving insight into the regulation of one of the world’s foremost markets.

The role will give the successful applicant:
- in depth exposure to the development and deployment of our strategy, covering the full spectrum of our activity.- the chance to shape the way that Market Oversight communicates its vision and impact both internally and to the outside world.- exposure to senior staff across Market Oversight and indeed the whole FCA.- a supportive environment but also the freedom to explore and develop your own ideas.
