**Job Purpose**

Reporting directly to the Senior Finance Business Partner, as Finance Business Partner you will be responsible for maximising impact for children through the delivery of effective and efficient financial performance.

You will be driving strong financial control, advocating financial priorities to the business as well as working with and influencing senior project management stakeholders of the team in **Global Programmes, **managing their large externally funded projects from a financial perspective.

**Main Accountabilities**

As Finance Business Partner, you will:

- Provide strategic and financial decision support to the relevant teams in Global Programmes and to country finance staff to help underpin strong financial performance
- Prepare monthly reporting for, and lead monthly business reviews with the assigned country contacts and communicate key aspects of financial performance
- Prepare, consolidate, and report financial forecasts, budgets, and reports for relevant Global Programmes teams for all allocated programmes. Analyse and comment on proposed financial plans, support budget holders/programme managers and pro-actively challenge them during the process
- Focus on the strategic finance requirements of the business, understanding the business model and what this means for finance. Communicate and advocate these priorities to the wider finance team
- Act as finance counterpart to budget holders/programme managers, working as an equal, and develop the financial acumen of these budget holders/programme managers
- Assist programme managers and bid leads in the creation and review of donor budgets, ensuring cost recovery is adequately included and to ensure any UK direct costs are correctly factored into donor budgets, liaising with the Finance Direct Spend team as necessary
- Support the business to ensure donor billing and cash collection targets are met
- Identify and evaluate financial risks and opportunities in the department; identify actions to mitigate the risks and exploit the opportunities
- Support the country offices as per the 'right first time' agenda
- Liaise closely with Global Programmes country facing teams, Divisional Operations teams, and country offices to ensure the high quality of finance and award data in our systems

You will also have involvement with wider Finance Team projects/ work-streams, working collaboratively with other teams across SCUK and seeking to identify further process improvements.

**Person Profile**

Experience
- Be a qualified accountant with relevant experience in the commercial or charity sector
- Demonstrate experience providing strategic and finance business partnering support to senior managers
- Have proven experience in the preparation of management accounts and involvement in financial planning and budgeting processes
- Be an advanced Excel user with strong Microsoft Office skills

You'll bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop awareness of commercial issues facing the business areas you support. Experience of working in the field in a development/humanitarian context is desirable but not essential, as long as you demonstrate a clear motivation to work in these areas
