Main Responsibilities
- To assist the HWRC Operational and Service Improvement Manager in the management and monitoring of Staffordshire County Council’s Household Waste Recycling Centre Operation and associated contracts.
- To monitor, in accordance with service standards, the performance of the HWRC network and assist with the accurate and timely collection and reporting of waste tonnages and data.
- Lead, coach, mentor and develop team members to ensure they are empowered to deliver a customer focused, modern professional service, challenging work practices as required.
- To assist the HWRC Operational and Service Improvement Manager, working closely with the management of the day-to-day external haulage contract to ensure HWRC waste materials are collected and service standards are maintained.
- Monitoring the compliance of all Council’s trade, chargeable and vehicle policies and ensure they are enforced, and all payments are taken across sites.
- Support continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Assist Health and Safety to develop and implement appropriate management systems, monitoring regimes and documentation to ensure health and safety compliance.
- Organise delivery of repairs, maintenance, design and construction works for new and existing HWRC site infrastructure.
- To maintain internal and external relationships and partnerships with corporate teams, contractors, etc.
- Assist with the preparation of reports for Cabinet, Joint Waste Management Board (JWMB) and Overview and Scrutiny committee on all aspects of existing waste contracts and operations to ensure sound, transparent, decision making.
- Educated to Degree level or other relevant qualification in Waste Management or the Environment or relevant experience.
- Hold a COTC for the management of a Household Waste Recycling Centre or equivalent waste operation.
- Demonstrable operational experience in waste management, environment or other related work.
- In depth knowledge and experience of waste site management and treatment systems.
- Demonstrable experience of managing a team.
- An understanding of and the ability to interpret/implement current waste legislation and policy.
- Previous experience with working with relevant external bodies, e.g. Waste Collection Authorities, contractors.
- Experience of delivering excellent customer service (written and verbal) and the achievement of high
- quality services.
- Experience of contracts and procurement.
