There has never been a better time to extend your Nursing or Midwifery career into health visiting. Medway Community Healthcare is taking forward the 0-19 service and secured the tender for local Children services.

Successful applicants will be sponsored /seconded on a midpoint Band 5 salary for the duration of the programme. Tuition fees are paid by the NHS England. Travel expenses will be paid when on business travel only. Lease cars will not be available for sponsored students. Seconded staff that currently have a lease car must contact the lease car department to advise of their change of status and mileage as this may affect monthly contributions.

Applicants with 2-year experience is desirable

The programme comprises 50% theory and 50% practice and runs for 45 weeks per year.

- Your statement should be no longer than 300-400 words maximum.
- We want to employ people who are motivated and have a passion for working with children and families
- You need to be able to demonstrate that you understand what health visitors do. You may want to reference Department of Health documents as evidence that you have been actively researching, however it is as important that you are able to describe the skills you have that are transferrable to the role of a health visitor.
- Some applicants go into lots of detail about their personal and family experience when completing their statement; it is ok to mention experience outside work where relevant (for example, volunteering) but we need to see evidence of your professional skills and abilities too.
- Annual leave is fixed and non-negotiable.If you book annual leave for any time during the course that is outside the agreed dates there will not be the capacity within the course schedule to honour this.

1. Communication and relationship skills
- Develop effective communication skills with service users and professionals.
- Establish a working relationship with the Practice Teacher
- Work effectively as a team member both at University and in clinical practice
- Establish working partnerships with other stakeholders.

1. Knowledge, training and experience
- Registered nurse or midwife with a specialist interest to improving the health and social outcomes for children and families.

1. Analytical and judgement skills
- Demonstrate analytical skills in undertaking robust health assessments.

1. Planning and organisational skills
- To complete the necessary further education to gain registration as a specialist community public health nurse (Health Visitor)
- Complete work based skills assessment agreed in partnership with the University and organisation
- Achieve all deadlines for academic and practice work and take responsibility for achieving targets.

1. Physical skills
- To be able to drive timely between destinations and visits.
- To be I.T competent and declare any learning disabilities which may affect progress on the course.

Demonstrate under supervision the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluation the provision of care for clients in accordance with the principles and practice of health visiting/School nursing.
