The Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit at the Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for a Clinical Trials Statistician to support a number of funded clinical trial research projects.

**The Opportunity**:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Trials Statistician to join Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit (ECTU), a leading registered trials unit based within the Usher Institute, University of Edinburgh. ECTU has a proven track record on delivering research and answering important questions about treatment and service delivery within the NHS. We work closely with patient groups and clinicians who are outstanding in their field.

ECTU is looking for an experienced and motivated Clinical Trials Statistician to provide statistical expertise to clinical trialists including oversight of trial processes, analysis and reporting of trials, and meta-analysis, working closely with senior statistical colleagues in the Usher Institute. We are looking for an enthusiastic, resourceful and highly organised person who is able to work independently, managing their own workload and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Applicants will possess good problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

Applicants must have MSc or PhD (or near completion) in medical statistics plus experience relating to the design, conduct, analysis, interpretation and reporting of clinical trials and/or meta-analyses. Demonstrable experience and familiarity with the statistical regulatory guidelines relevant to clinical trials and statistical analysis software (SAS programming, in particular, would be an advantage) is also essential to the post.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), and is available immediately for 24 months in the first instance. Part-time work would also be considered.

**Your skills and attributes for success**:

- MSc or PhD (or near completion) in medical statistics.
- Work experience relating to the design, conduct, analysis, interpretation and reporting of clinical trials.
- Thorough familiarity with statistical analysis software (e.g. SAS, Stata or R).
- Self-managing, organised, with proven analytical and problem solving ability.
- Flexible, enthusiastic and confident; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
