The Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit at the Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for an enthusiastic Trial management Support Officer

The Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit (ECTU).

Based within the Usher Institute and the University Of Edinburgh School Of Medicine, ECTU is a close collaboration between the clinical academic community affiliated to the University and NHS Lothian.

ECTU supports the development and delivery of research proposals which answer important questions that will have a bearing on treatment and service delivery within the NHS.

ECTU's aim is to ensure the delivery of high quality regulated and non-regulated randomised controlled trials.


This post will involve working across a variety of studies and you will join an experienced, diverse team within an established trials unit.

You will be responsible for supporting the trial managers throughout the duration of the trial. Tasks will include setting up recruiting sites, tracking study progress, maintaining trial documentation and dealing with queries. You will have at least one years' experience in clinical trials or in a research co-ordination environment.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of a team demonstrating excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, (specifically excellent attention to detail).
  • Experience /knowledge of working to the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Proven experience of creating, processing, updating and version control of documents.
  • Experience of planning, organising meeting and taking meeting minutes.
  • Proven experience of managing own time & efficiently prioritising and managing own workload.
