- Co-ordinate the development and implementation of the overall long-term strategy of the place level which supports and ensures that quality, financial and performance targets are met and sustained.
- Responsible for supporting, developing and implementing policies, guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and service level agreements (SLAs) which will impact across the system or at a place level.
- Ability to manage initiatives within financial restraints and deliver to deadlines.
- Provide line management to the different departments within the quality function at place or within a delegated portfolio for GM.
- Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive, or contentious information to support the oversight and development of the service and a person-centred approach.
- Provide both strategic thinking and technical advice to develop and implement innovative capacity plans and improved processes.
- Be highly visible as a collaborative leader and role model, actively engaging with system colleagues, and promoting a culture of inclusive and supportive multi-professional leadership.

Accountable to the NHS GM Chief Nurse and responsible to the Place Director, the Place Quality Lead is responsible for the safe and effective leadership and management of quality, safety and patient experience oversight and assurance within a designated Place (or places) setting. The overarching goal is to drive forward quality improvement and patient safety activities across all commissioned services, and lead on selected Greater Manchester quality improvement projects which demonstrate improved outcomes for patients across the place and Greater Manchester.

You will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and advice about all aspects of healthcare in the locality in respect of commissioned services and service redesign and, holding providers directly accountable for delivering what has been agreed. You will review performance, activity, and finance information to understand the overall clinical contribution and work with other place leads to ensure commissioning action is agreed and implemented to achieve system-wide safety improvements.

This will be varied and will adapt over time as both the ICB/S develops. However, the postholder is expected to fulfil the following key functions:
