W&A is partnering with an established business in Edinburgh to help source a Payroll Consultant for a 6 month daily rate contract.

The Payroll Consultant will provide technical and business knowledge to take responsibility to deliver the payrolls on a monthly cycle on behalf of the business.

Additionally, you will help support the business in it’s transition to a fully managed payroll service, working with them to deliver the payroll and continuously improve current processes and ways of working.

You will join the payroll team at this exciting stage of their evolution to grow their payroll capability and enable their transformation.

This role can operate on a hybrid basis and there is possibility of an extension.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for carrying out monthly payroll activities that provide assurance on the completion of operational process checks, complex upload and interface routines and reconciliations of payroll to ensure completeness and accuracy of payroll and benefits calculations and processing
- Accountable for the completion of the payroll cycle for all payrolls including processing, payroll commit processes, reporting, controls, analysis, interfaces, and BACS transmission to ensure the monthly payroll timetable is delivered
- Create and implement relevant process control measures to ensure compliance with reporting standards
- Provide specialist advice and guidance in respect of payroll processing and work with an outsourced supplier to introduce a new fully managed payroll service by providing specific knowledge and guidance within these areas
- Ensuring all processes are followed and updated as and when needed to maintain legal compliance with all aspects of payroll operations

**Experience & Skills Required**:

- Experience of working in a complex payroll environment with knowledge of payroll systems and processes
- Experience of carrying out monthly payroll activities including the completion of operational process checks, interface routines and reconciliations of payroll
- Experience of dealing with pensions
- Governance and accuracy are essential to the efficient operation of the service so you will have a track record of attention to detail and deployment of your technical skill and knowledge
- Effective stakeholder relationships are key to the success of the payroll function within the organisation so you will have to build relationships within the team, the wider HR function, and with Finance
