The Extracare Charitable Trust are recruiting for a Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler to join our friendly team at Solihull Retirement Village

We are excited to be recruiting for a Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler to support the village’s commitment in delivering ExtraCare’s mission of “better lives for older people”.

Role Details:
- Role: Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler
- Hours: 34 hours per week
- Contract: Permanent
- Rate: £14.45 per hour (£25,616.38pa, pro rata of FTE)
- Location: Solihull Retirement Village, Birmingham, B90 2FH

Essential requirements
- Knowledge of Dementia and Mental Health conditions and the ability to provide one to one support to people living with those conditions
- Caseload management experience
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of using cognitive assessments

Skills and Competencies
- Ability to develop empathic relationships with residents
- Ability to use supervision effectively and self-reflect
- Capacity to remain motivated even when working under pressure
- Respect for other people’s rights of autonomy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understand the limits of your role and when to escalate cases for clinical input
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Formal qualification in relevant field (Health & Social Care, Psychology, Counselling)
- Good understanding of the psychosocial approach
- Good understanding of the needs of individuals living with dementia
- Be able to describe pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for dementia symptoms
- Good understanding of the needs of individuals living with common mental health conditions
