**Job summary**:
Ward 6 and 9 include 48 cardiology beds where patients receive care for a range of acute and long term cardiac conditions. An 8 bedded Coronary care unit which beats at the centre of our 24 hour PCI centre. A 6 bedded direct access area to streamline cardiology patients into the department where they will be assessed and treated swiftly. We also have opportunities to join the cardiac cath lab core team working to support the wide range of cardiology interventional and diagnostic treatments. Our department is exciting, innovative and challenging. We have a highly skilled, dynamic and friendly multidisciplinary team, who are extremely proud of the standards of care that they deliver and striving to improve. **Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
As a band 5 nurse you will be directly caring and responsible for a patient case load for that day.

You will receive new direct admissions from a variety of sources and assess the patient fully using our admission assessments and risk assessments set by the trust.

On a day to day basis you may care for patients in a ward setting or level 2 Cardiology patients, these will vary and may have IABP, TPW, PPCI, Inotropes, post cardiac arrest patients and ITU stepdown.....and more.

You will be supported by a band 6 on each shift and will be encouraged to complete the packages specified and any competencies required.

Providing high quality compassionate care to all patients.

Being professionally accountable for own actions and to work within the guidelines, policies and procedures of UHB NHS Trust.

Provide support and, individualised care to patients, relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with local and national targets.

At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.

To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.

Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register

Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC

**Experience**:

Previous / recent experience or working in an acute secondary NHS care setting (can include student placements within the last 12 months )

Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/ competence

Experience of working on own and in a team in a health care environment delegating to others within a team / providing supervision to others

Willingness to become a practice supervisor / assessor to or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment

Understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct

Understanding of preceptorship and work based learning and assimilation of skills and knowledge

Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context

Understanding / experience of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity

Awareness of health and safety issues
