**The Role**

We’re seeking an innovative lead developer, who can help us transform our major clients. You’ll have an agile mindset and be an advocate and practitioner of XP practices. You’ll be able to convince clients and our teams of the benefits of these practices.

As an Opencast lead developer, you’ll have an open mind and an enthusiasm to learn new technologies. You’ll promote best practices, always.

**What you'll do within our teams**
- Contribute to both technical and ways of working discussions. This helps to deliver the right solution and promotes a culture of continuous improvement in your team.
- Use TDD and pair programming with other members of your team to deliver well designed and tested code.
- Communicate with both technical and non-technical people. You’ll adjust your language to suit.
- Elaborate on and upkeep user stories and technical tasks.
- Help promote an environment of collaboration, where we treasure values like T-shaping.
- Review your colleagues’ work positively and constructively.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Act as an ambassador for Opencast. You’ll lead by example and promote our approach to software development.

**You'll suit this role if you**:

- are already a lead or senior developer within a commercial environment
- have knowledge of JVM or Microsoft based languages
- are experienced in using modern web frameworks
- can demonstrate Test-Driven Development (TDD) and pair programming skills
- have worked with distributed version control tools
- have a solid understanding of RESTful and microservice architectures
- have deployed software into cloud environments
- enjoy coaching and mentoring a team
- can have productive conversations with both business and technical audiences
- are committed to continuous improvement and a drive to better the software development profession.

**Salary**

Based upon individual skill/experience level, and where this aligns against our competency framework:

- Junior consultant: £31,000 - £41,000
- Consultant: £42,000 - £56,000
- Senior consultant: £57,000 - £75,000
- Lead consultant: £76,000 - £99,000

**Where you’ll work**

At Opencast we trust our people to make the right decisions. You may work remotely from home or, depending on your project, you may be required to occasionally work at a client site or your nearest Opencast office.

Interviews take place over Microsoft Teams. If that doesn’t work for you, we’ll do everything we can to support and make any necessary adjustments. We want to ensure everyone has the best possible interview experience.
