Night Support Worker

Yate, United Kingdom Milestones Trust Full time

£10.42 per hour + £500 welcome bonus
Full and Part Time Hours Considered

Whether you are seeking an opportunity which will work around studies or childcare or you just want to escape the rat run and spending hours stuck in rush hour traffic, working nights can be a great solution

We are looking for Night Support Workers to the team at The Chestnuts, a residential service in Yate, providing support to six very different individuals who, on occasions, can find life challenging.

The people we support are involved in the running of the home, deciding where, when and what they eat, what they like to do each day, how to decorate the home and helping to recruit staff. We pride ourselves on providing person centred support and striving to put the individual at the centre of all discussion and decision-making.

As a Night Support Worker, you will be there for the people we support to provide personal care, as required, and assist them if they are up in the night, need help to get to the bathroom or maybe just to keep them company while they settle down to sleep. You will perform housekeeping duties and ensure the home is clean and safe and conduct regular checks on the people you are supporting.

You will be lone working, but support can be sought from the team at our neighbouring service, Mayo House, as the two services work harmoniously.

The successful Support Worker will be mature, able to lone work and use your own initiative. You will have a good level of self-awareness, be keen to learn and manage tricky situations with calmness and sensitivity.

The shifts are 10 hours from 21:15 to 07:15. However, you will initially work 2 weeks on day shifts to complete your induction and training and to build positive relationships with the people we support and get to know the team and the service.

In addition, you will be required now and then to attend meetings and training during the day to enable you to keep in touch with the service as a whole, and to reinforce positive cultures.

At Milestones Trust we recognise that without the hard work, commitment and passion of our staff, we wouldn’t be the charity that we are today. In return, we are committed to rewarding you with a competitive pay and benefits package including:

- 30 days annual leave entitlement
- Company pension scheme, with Milestones matching employee contributions up to 3% to help grow your retirement pot
- Learning and development opportunities to help you to build your career, including a comprehensive induction programme, and the opportunity to undertake further qualifications
- Health Cash Plan on completion of probation giving you access to a minimum of £695 cash back for health treatments e.g. dental, therapies, optical, maternity/paternity, NHS prescriptions etc.
- Generous Occupational Maternity/Paternity pay
- Get paid when you want - access your money as you earn it and request your earnings before payday using Dayforce Wallet
- Access to an Employee Discount Platform from day one, with discounts and cashback for hundreds of retailers
- An employee referral scheme that allows you to earn points that can be converted to cash for family members or friends that you point in Milestones’ direction.

We pride ourselves with being able to offer staff opportunities to develop and progress their careers within Milestones Trust.

For an informal discussion about the job role please contact Cherie Smith or Arek Stotko on 01454 227188 or 01454 228246.

Milestones Trust is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all the individuals that it supports, it expects the same commitment from all employees. If successful at interview an enhanced DBS check will take place. (Formerly CRB) A criminal record is not necessarily a barrier to recruitment. Committed to Equality and Diversity for all.
