Youth Theatre Facilitator

We are seeking an experienced freelance youth theatre facilitator to join our team and deliver our participatory drama programme for young people in our Senior Youth Theatre group (S5 S6). This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about using theatre to help young people build confidence, creativity and teamworking skills. The Youth Theatre Facilitator will be responsible for the planning and delivery of one workshop per week and for facilitating and supporting workshops by visiting professional artists.

You will have a proven record in delivering and directing quality youth theatre workshops and productions. You will have a passion for the arts and an understanding of how participation can be an enriching and life changing experience for young people. You will be committed to and have a strong understanding of the importance of ensuring the arts are accessible to all. A keenness to continuously update your learning and professional development when opportunities arise is key to the role, as is a confident and enthusiastic outlook and willingness to be part of a hard-working team. We are looking for a person who values the opportunity to enthuse young people to participate in the arts and who understands the importance of allowing young people to develop their ideas and take the lead in designing the content and output of the workshops wherever possible.

You will have relevant experience in delivering creative, accessible and contemporary drama workshops for diverse groups of young people with a focus on co-creating with participants, a willingness to support young peoples wellbeing, build rapport and respond to their needs, a willingness to collaborate with other creative professionals, a dynamic approach to working with young people, a commitment to and a champion of equality and inclusion, excellent team working skills, excellent organisational and planning skills and pass a satisfactory PVG check.

The Youth Theatre Facilitator fee is £112.50 per week, to be paid on submission of an invoice at the end of each term. The fee is inclusive of planning, delivery and travel.

Additional hours worked during Light The Blue festival will be remunerated at £45/hour for up to 3 hours, £150/half day (3 4 hours) and £200/full day (up to 8 hours). Extra hours to be worked will be agreed with the Producer-Participation and the Producer-Light The Blue.

There are 3 terms in each year with Senior Youth Theatre Workshops taking place in our venues on a Tuesday evening from 7pm - 9pm as follows:
Term 1: Tuesday 29/08/23 07/11/23

(No workshops during October break)

Term 2: Tuesday 16/01/24 Saturday 19/03/24

(No workshop Tuesday 13th February or during Easter break)

Term 3: Tuesday 16/04/24 Tuesday 18/06/24

(Light The Blue takes place 8th - 16th June 2024. Technical/Dress Rehearsals 3rd 9th June, schedule tbc)
