**About the role**
We have a rewarding and varied position for a Dementia Adviser to join us in the Northamptonshire area Our team of Dementia Advisers provide support and guidance to people affected by dementia in identifying their needs, providing information and guidance to help maintain their independence, improve their sense of wellbeing and putting them in more control of their lives. This role is integral in providing pre-diagnostic support, signposting and information to people awaiting an assessment with the Memory Assessment Service in Northamptonshire. We offer this highly impactful service, mainly over the telephone, but we also provide support online and face to face. Our successful new team member will also be building relationships with local contacts including networking with health and care professionals and community organisations, developing pathways with partner organisations who work in the field of dementia.
**About you**
We are looking for a compassionate, supportive individual with a clear understanding of memory loss and the impact dementia can have on the needs of those living with the condition and their carers. You will need an ability to assess someone’s needs along with an understanding of the need for confidentiality and services people will be able to access for support. This is a unique role, supporting people who are awaiting an assessment. This role requires excellent non-judgmental communication and an ability to empathise with an individual in sometimes upsetting circumstances. You will need strong organisational, time management and computer skills, including working with Microsoft Office. We are keen to speak with people who have demonstrable experience and due to the nature of the role you will be required to travel independently across Northamptonshire. As a community based worker you will be required to attend a range of meetings, appointments and venues as well as working from home.
