University Hospitals Sussex Chlamydia Screening & Home-Sampling Team is based at the Sexual Health & Contraception service (SHAC) at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, hard-working person to play a vital role in the Administration and Health Promotion work of this well-established service.
You will be responsible for providing administrative & clerical support, working as part of a team to deliver the highest standards for patients and staff. The post involves dealing directly with patients to process and give results and requires excellent communication and customer service skills, typing & computer input, responding to telephone inquiries, and the maintenance of physical and electronic records.
In addition this post supports the delivery of Young People’s (U25) sexual health provision in the community, including Pharmacies, Schools, Colleges and Universities and voluntary sector partners. This post will work with community partners to deliver on the local eC-card scheme and the National Chlamydia Screening Programme.
You will need to be calm and approachable, have an excellent telephone manner, and exceptional interpersonal skills. Good administration skills and organisation are key. It is vital you can work well alone as well as part of a team. Experience of working in a busy dynamic office environment is desirable.
1. Be a contact person for EHC in pharmacies. Monitor EHC data and use data to inform CSP practice to increase uptake of CSP kits.
2. Ensure all outreach & home-sampling admin tasks are completed and sufficient packs have been made to allow for smooth service delivery
3. To lead on health promotion support to the Health Promotion Specialist, overseeing administrators to ensure resources are ready for session and training delivery.
4. To co-ordinate and manage new and junior staff with regard to teaching the results and recall elements of the role
5. To provide diagnosis and information to patients over the telephone and to deal with the complexities that may subsequently arise from these in a sensitive and empathetic manner.
6. To facilitate discussion with patients when giving diagnosis and have the ability to answer questions patients may have regarding the impact of their diagnosis.
7. To make sound decisions around recalling patients and ensure the best course of action in facilitating the prompt treatment of patients.
8. To be responsible for documenting patient care on EPR and clearly recording actions taken on a daily basis
9. To take a lead role in the follow up of partner notification conversations with patients in the recall system and to use SXT digital partner notification tool as necessary
10. To provide advice and information to patients over the telephone relating to their results, symptoms and questions relating to their care
