Job Title: Maths (maternity cover 1 year fixed term contract in the first instance)

Reports to: Head of Centre

Role overview

As a Maths Teaching Mentor, the post holder will teach small groups of students, or 1:1, face to face, while working alongside other staff to establish and maintain a positive working relationship with a core group of students, their families, and other professionals supporting them.

**Responsibilities**:
As a Maths Teaching Mentor
- By negotiating the curriculum, work with students 1:1 or in small groups, online or face to face to meet their learning objectives;
- Comply with safety rules and procedures laid down in the area of activity;
- To take reasonable care of their own health and safety, using protective clothing or equipment as may be required;
- To report promptly all sickness, accidents, unsafe conditions or practices and dangerous occurrences of which they are aware;
- To co-operate with the Head of Centre in the fulfilment of the objectives of Red Balloon’s Health and Safety policy;
- Monitor student progress through regular assessment and feedback to inform future planning;
- Complete and submit registers for every session to meet commissioner requirements;
- Complete termly reports and records of achievements as required for each student and all other relevant paperwork in accordance with the required deadline submission dates or as requested;
- Provide feedback to parents and carers where necessary, and attend parent carer consultations to maintain positive relationships;
- Ensure that all learning resources are stored and shared within the shared departmental teaching drives to enable ease of access if cover is required;
- Support educational trips and outings as appropriate;
- Positively contribute to the development of teaching and learning through collaboration and cooperation to deliver high-quality results.

**Salary**: Starting between £25,158 - £35,346 per annum, pro-rata, depending on qualifications and experience. Minimum starting salary for Qualified Teacher £30,549.
