We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced **Health, Safety and Environment Advisor **to join our busy Human Resources team.
As a **HSE Advisor,** working with the Health and Safety Controller, you will have the opportunity to influence and support all areas of the business, working closely with our operational and maintenance teams. By reviewing and and developing current Health, Safety and Environmental standards, you will help ensure compliance with the relevant regulations and legislation and the continuing development of our Health and Safety culture within our site.
We are looking for someone with a passion for Health and Safety and Environmental issues and who is driven to promote change within our organisation. You should be able to demonstrate experience within a **Health, Safety and Environmental** role and ideally hold a recognised related qualification, however this role offers the opportunity to be supported in your IOSH/NEBOSH studies
**Salary £24,114.00 to £26,794.00**
**Working hours - 39 hours per week**
**Monday to Thursday 7.45am to 4.30pm**
**Friday 7:45 to 1:45**
**There is also the option of working from home 2 days a week, however due to the nature of this role, the majority of your time will be spent on site**
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Health and Safety**
- Creating, reviewing and updating departmental risk assessments
- Assist in the writing and reviewing of specific safe working instructions
- Conduct safety audits and inspections in various areas of the plant and create relevant reports.
- Provide recommendations for improving safety in all areas of the factory
- investigation of any accidents
- Carry out or assist in the approval process for plant equipment or workplace set up
- Support all departments in the sourcing and booking of specific training courses and requirements.
- Supporting with site security, emergency responses and disaster recovery planning
- Support and assist in managing contractors through induction, managing and assessing whilst onsite.
- Assist and advise on the safe use, handling and storage of hazardous substances and the implementing of suitable COSHH risk assessments
**Environment**
- Assist with the bi-annual and annual external ISO14001 audits, reports and paperwork in accordance to company schedule.
- Attend EMS meetings and assist with internal audits and inspections.
- Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental Health, conservation
- Audit, analyse and report environmental performance to management and regulatory bodies.
- Assist and support in implementing best practice in areas of corporate, ethical and social responsibility and address any issues arising.
**Essential skills / Experience /Qualifications**
- A minimum of two years’ previous experience, preferably working in a manufacturing environment either in a health and safety role or where there has been an opportunity to be involved with health and safety matters
- Previous experience of implementing preventative actions, develop new initiatives and co-ordinate or ensure their implementation.
- Can demonstrate relevant experience in writing or reviewing risk assessments and safe working instructions
- Have relevant experience or have been involved in workplace inspections, auditing processes and writing reports.
- Proven track record of experience in accident investigation and root cause analysis techniques.
- Experienced in various safety data collection, analysis and interpretation skills.
- Have ability to be able to work using own initiative and be able to liaise with other and departments at all levels within the Company.
- Knowledge and/or experience of Environmental Management requirements relating to ISO 14001.
- Up to date knowledge of relevant UK health and safety legislation
**Beneficial skills / Experience /Qualifications**
- Health and Safety qualifications such as IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent would be advantageous for this role. (Further development will be available)
- Membership of a safety or environmental professional body
- Ability to support the delivery of of training /briefing material in an innovative, enjoyable, but effective way
