If so, we are looking for newly qualified and recently completed Return to Practice course Midwives to join our friendly and highly motivated teams at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

We offer an excellent, fully accredited and well evaluated preceptorship programme and are proud to be the first London Trust to receive the Capital Midwife Quality Mark for 2021/22. You will work alongside a kind, enthusiastic and forward-thinking team that is dedicated to guide and support you during your first year of practice. Two experienced preceptorship support midwives and one student / preceptee support midwife are on hand at each site to ensure that you settle in well and are equipped to work in all clinical areas.

You will be capable of establishing and maintaining effective communication with individuals and groups about difficult or complex matters overcoming any problems/barriers in communication.

You will develop and maintain your Midwifery knowledge and practice by attending and participating in continuing professional development and contribute to the development of others.

You will contribute to the development of services and quality improvement whilst ensuring your own actions promote quality and alert others to quality issues. You will support people's equality, diversity and rights.

You will be competent in assessing people’s health and wellbeing needs when those needs are complex and change across the caseload.

You will be able to plan, deliver and evaluate care pathways to address clients complex and changing health and wellbeing needs

You will be an advocate to lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice and assist in planning, allocating, assessing and providing feedback to team members

As one of the only London Trusts having an accredited preceptorship programme in partnership with Greenwich University we achieved the Capital Midwife Preceptorship Quality Mark which highlights our fantastic programme. Our supportive education team comprises of a Consultant midwife, Practice Development midwife, a developmental PDM, a CPF and 2 preceptee support midwives (PCSM). We are employing a 3rdPCSM that will support both students and new preceptees clinically.

We are a progressive site whereby we offer flexible working and will help you develop through your preceptorship so you can focus on your chosen career path speciality with our continued support.

We facilitates care to over 4,000 mothers/birthing people and their babies each year, with a busy obstetric unit, supported by a beautiful, well established, co-aligned Birth Centre.

Our diverse client population provides constant challenges while we strive to deliver the highest standard of care. We have considerable expertise at caring for women/birthing people with complex and high risk needs.

Main tasks/overview of responsibilities
1. Establish and maintain effective communication with individuals and groups about difficult or complex matters overcoming any problems/barriers in communication
2. Develop and maintain Midwifery knowledge and practice by attending and participating in continuing professional development and contribute to the development of others
3. Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others in own work area
4. Contribute to the development of services
5. Contribute to quality improvement
6. Ensure own actions promote quality and alert others to quality issues. Support people's equality, diversity and rights
7. Assess people’s health and wellbeing needs when those needs are complex and change across the caseload
8. Plan, deliver and evaluate care pathways to address clients complex and changing health and wellbeing needs
9. Lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice
10. Plan, allocate, assess and provide feedback to team members
11. Maintain and support the efficient use of physical and /or financial resources
12. Participate in on call-rota
