Job overview

This is an exciting role working within the Clinical Genetics Service at NUH.

There is 6 months funding, for a full time Data Quality Coordinator, we would however, consider a part time position, which could extend the contract length, for example, extend it from 6 months to 9 months, (dependent on weekly hours/funding conversion).

**The post could also be a secondment or Fixed Term contract opportunity.**

The role will involve managing your own workload and meeting tight deadlines prescribed by the clinical team.

The post holder will undertake a wide variety of work that will contribute to data quality awareness and assurance within the service. Tasks will include maintaining the consistency/integrity of data on the departmental systems, providing assistance and advice in the recording of accurate information relating to Lynch Syndrome and other rare diseases. The implementation of robust systems and solutions to recording, monitoring and managing this important data. The post holder will in addition contribute to the reference of documenting rare disease codes for auditing. In particular the post holder will coordinate quality data shared with the clinician for audit and reporting purposes.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be the support this 9 month data quality project. Identify and set up robust systems with accurate data for the purposes of performance, patient monitoring, audits and governance purposes as required. The post holder will use their initiative to manage and progress data quality, adhering to the local and national standards and escalating issues where appropriate. In particular the post holder will coordinate the audit performed by the team.

Working for our organisation

Nottingham University Hospitals Clinical Genetics Service comprises a multidisciplinary team of professional staff.

The Clinical Genetics Department consists of 10 Genetic Consultants/Junior Doctors, 16 Genetic Counsellors and a team of 14 Admin. We are a regional diagnostic service that provides an outpatient service covering Nottinghamshire as well as Derbyshire and Lincolnshire where we hold outreach clinics. Our service is open from Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 5:00.

We are a very caring team with Admin, Doctors and Counsellors working very closely to ensure the best outcome for all of our patients and families. We are in our own building away from the main Hospital and we have our own patient/family notes although we will be moving to electronic patient records in the near future.

Essential criteria
- Degree/A level education or equivalent experience gained through work in a similar / administration role. Evidence of personal development in previous employment

Experience

Essential criteria
- Detailed experience of NUH systems and data quality issues

Desirable criteria
- Evidence of training for new starters, systems access.

Communication and Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to provide complex or sensitive information verbally and in range of documentary forms including reports.
- Ability to manage and enthuse staff in a changing environment.

Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential criteria
- Able to use judgement to make decisions on data quality issues/concerns
- Ability to identify and communicate data quality issues affecting the Trust Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Able to demonstrate an innovative and proactive approach to data quality issues.
- Ability to coordinate the day to day aspects of a departmental project Propose changes to practices/procedures for own area
- Able to undertake audits of healthcare data for data quality purposes
