Senior Residential Care Support Worker
**Full Time, Permanent**
A unique opportunity has arisen to join Bristol City Council’s Children Residential Service.
We have an exciting opportunity for someone progressing in their career to join our team as a Senior Residential Child Care Worker.
We are currently re-profiling our existing homes and moving to a model of smaller children’s homes for 2 to 3 children; to allow us to provide a therapeutic care experience for our children, and to facilitate a better matching of placements. We currently have 1 full time (37 hours) senior position available.
The role of the Senior, in addition to that of a residential child care worker is to support the Deputy, taking a supervisory role of staff and being part of the management team.
The service is offered to children up to and including the age of 18 with complex needs. This may include SEMH needs, learning difficulties, and challenging behaviour. We want to hear from you if you share our passion for working with children who have not had the easiest start in life.
Our aspirations for our children are high in all aspects of their lives, and we aim to provide a homely environment where children feel safe, loved, and nurtured. We use a trauma informed approach in our work, to enable us to better understand the needs of our children, and to provide individual care packages.
We are looking for team members who share our Bristol Values of Respect, Collaboration, Curiosity, Ownership and Dedication. We strive for a carer stance using principles from PACE. New team members should be positive, reflective, resilient and non-punitive.
We have a strong focus on the development of the team in our children’s homes and offer a supportive environment for new members of staff. This includes an expanding training package and induction programme, regular 1:1 supervision.
You will have the flexibility to work a varied shift pattern including sleep-in duties, weekend working, and working on Bank Holidays. You will be based in a particular children's home in the City and may be required at times to work across other homes, to meet service needs.
In addition to the basic pay allowances you will be paid for shift work, sleep-in duties, and for working on Bank Holidays.
**You will need to be able to work shifts on a rota basis, to include nights, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.**
**Why Bristol City Council?**
At Bristol City Council, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation.
Join us and you’ll receive a generous rewards package including a membership of the Local Government Pension scheme, and a generous annual leave allowance. In addition, you’ll be working in a supportive environment where you’ll have the chance to make Bristol a better place and contribute to its future.
**How do I apply?**
**For any further information please to not hesitate to contact Stuart Sim on 07391409497 or**
