Roles and Responsibilities

The Data Services System Administrator role sits within the Architecture team of the Data Services department responsible for all data platforms across the company’s divisions globally that houses our big data, data warehouse, business intelligence, analytics and data science environments.
- Build and manage the systems and services needed for Data Services team to ensure Reliability, Availability and Serviceability of our data platform.
- Execute the logging strategy by rolling out best practice solutions across all of the solutions and introduce better insights into services and code.
- Guarantee stability and reliability of the data stack by deploying fault-tolerant recovery, log monitoring and alerting.
- Initiate highly available services with robust disaster recovery environments and processes.
- Advise the team on best practices for notification and alerting methods and making sure they are implemented across the code base and services.
- Measure and optimize system performance, efficiency and integrity of the data systems using enterprise level tools and processes.
- Execute and support a reliable, dependable, and automated maintenance strategy.
- Empower security administrators enabling them to perform security monitoring to detect potential security threats and perform risk assessments on systems.
- Execute and support our transformation to full Infrastructure as a Code.

Required Experience
- Proficiency in administering on-premises or cloud database technologies.
- Proven experience of managing & supporting with experience in using a monitoring tool.
- Experience in building disaster recovery environments and processes.
- Good understanding of network and security concepts.
- Good technical experience and writing code beyond simple scripts.
- Proven experience in building and handling monitoring and alerting capabilities.
- Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

Preferred Skills
- Experience using an Application Performance Management tool like Datadog.
- Experience administering databases like Snowflake, Databricks and SQL Server.
- Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, SQL and Python.
- Ability to write scripts with Bash, Helm or YAML.
