We are working with an excellent hearing impairment unit attached to a mainstream Primary school where inclusion is at the heart of everything they do, ensuring hearing impaired and deaf students feel valued and included in the classroom every day.

**About the role
- BSL Teaching Assistant**

We are working with a primary inclusion provision based in Kingsbury, Brent for primary students aged 3-11 who have hearing impairments or are deaf. The provision provides assistance to students across Early Years Foundation stage, KS1 and KS2 with 18 full-timeplaces to ensure all students are able to get the individual attention they need to receive quality access to their education. They are looking for full-time specialist teaching assistants with BSL experience and knowledge who are able to work alongside QualifiedTeachers of the Deaf to plan and deliver programmes of work and provide communication support for deaf students. You will also be working 1-1 with students to help develop reading, writing and mathematics skills. Individuals with BSL (British Sign Language)qualifications and professional or personal experience working with students who are deaf or have hearing impairments are very desirable for this role as you will be using a mixture of spoken English combined with BSL and sign supported English.

The provision is based in a mixed mainstream primary school based in Kingsbury, just a short walk from Kingsbury Underground Station, served by the Jubilee Line. All staff across the school are ambitious for all children and determined that they will succeedthrough the care, learning and direction they receive. This is further expressed through the school's ethos of expectations of Empathy, Agility and hard work from staff and students alike. Students in the Hearing Impairment Provision are assisted with HearingAids, Cochlear implants and Soundfield systems to make the most of their residual hearing. All students in the provision spend half the day in the provision and the other half with mainstream classes, integrating with their peers and spending break and lunchtimes with them to promote inclusion and ensuring their students with additional needs are able to access all areas of education that their peers do.
