We are OCU, ‘One Company United’. We are currently recruiting for an Atex Inspector to join our team, based in Pembrokeshire, South Wales.

**Job Summary**:
You will be responsible for conducting thorough Hazardous and safe area inspections, identifying potential hazards, providing recommendations for risk reduction, performing remedial repairs where necessary and ensuring adherence to ATEX directives and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

To support and carry out departmental project work.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform comprehensive inspections on hazardous equipment, facilities and workplaces to clients’ schedules and to ensure compliance with classification and BS EN 60079 Standards, record and certify findings.
- Carrying out general electrical and instrumentation installation, maintenance, and remedial repairs where necessary.
- Adhere to and prepare appropriate risk assessments and method statements in order to complete the work safely.
- Test and evaluate electrical circuits and equipment to determine its suitability for use in hazardous areas. Ensure compliance with ATEX requirements and maintain accurate equipment certification records.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Diagnose malfunctioning equipment, using test equipment and hand tools and locate the cause of breakdown.
- Disassemble, remove, clean, and replace defective parts where applicable and reassemble, replace and test new equipment.
- Prepare detailed and accurate inspection reports, documenting findings, recommendations, and corrective actions required to ensure compliance with ATEX standards. Maintain accurate records of inspections and certifications.
- Monitor compliance with ATEX directives, national regulations, and internal safety policies. Provide guidance and support to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.
- Participate in toolbox talks with site staff.
- Participate in regular training as required to maintain and/or develop competency levels.
- Any other tasks as reasonably required in relation to your role.

**Key Skills Required**:

- Must have undergone a registered apprenticeship or undergone some equivalent method of training and have had practical training in electrical installation work.
- Must have obtained an NVQ Level 3 in electrical installation work.
- Must hold a valid CompEx 01-04 qualification.
- Must have a thorough understanding of ATEX directives and applicable safety standards i.e. BS EN 60079.
- Experience of project and maintenance processes at Gas or Petrochemical facilities would be advantageous.

Instrumentation experience would be advantageous
