We are OCU One Company United. We arecurrently recruiting for an Atex Inspector to join our team basedin Pembrokeshire South Wales.

JobSummary:

You will be responsiblefor conducting thorough Hazardous and safe area inspectionsidentifying potential hazards providing recommendations for riskreduction performing remedial repairs where necessary and ensuringadherence to ATEX directives and regulations to maintain a safeworking environment.

To support and carry outdepartmental project work.

JobResponsibilities:

  • Performcomprehensive inspections on hazardous equipment facilities andworkplaces to clients schedules and to ensure compliance withclassification and BS EN 60079 Standards record and certifyfindings.
  • Carrying out general electrical andinstrumentation installation maintenance and remedial repairs wherenecessary.
  • Adhere to and prepare appropriaterisk assessments and method statements in order to complete thework safely.
  • Test and evaluate electricalcircuits and equipment to determine its suitability for use inhazardous areas. Ensure compliance with ATEX requirements andmaintain accurate equipment certificationrecords.
  • Inspect electrical systems equipmentand components to identify hazards defects and the need foradjustment or repair and to ensure compliance withcodes.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning equipment usingtest equipment and hand tools and locate the cause of breakdown.
  • Disassemble remove clean and replace defectiveparts where applicable and reassemble replace and test newequipment.
  • Prepare detailed and accurateinspection reports documenting findings recommendations andcorrective actions required to ensure compliance with ATEXstandards. Maintain accurate records of inspections andcertifications.
  • Monitor compliance with ATEXdirectives national regulations and internal safety policies.Provide guidance and support to ensure continuous improvement andadherence to best practices.
  • Participate intoolbox talks with site staff.
  • Participate inregular training as required to maintain and/or develop competencylevels.
  • Any other tasks as reasonably requiredin relation to yourrole.

Key SkillsRequired:

  • Must haveundergone a registered apprenticeship or undergone some equivalentmethod of training and have had practical training in electricalinstallation work.
  • Must have obtained an NVQLevel 3 in electrical installation work.
  • Musthold a valid CompEx 0104 qualification.
  • Musthave 2 years experience working as an Electrician subsequent to thesatisfactory completion of training and immediately prior to theapplication for this grade.
  • Must have athorough understanding of ATEX directives and applicable safetystandards i.e. BS EN 60079.
  • Experience ofproject and maintenance processes at Gas or Petrochemicalfacilities would be advantageous.

Instrumentation experience would beadvantageous
