Job description
- Actively seek out opportunities to promote the Good Business Charter (GBC) accreditation scheme to organisations from all sizes and sectors but with a focus on large businesses and household names.
- Connect with other national membership organisations to explore the potential to promote the GBC through their networks, such as Make UK, the British Retail Consortium and others, working creatively with them to spread the word and encourage their members to join.
- Work closely with GBC cities or towns to build up a strong membership of different local businesses, in collaboration with the local authority and Federation of Small Businesses.
- Identify geographic areas, technology sectors and industries providing opportunity for membership growth, with a focus on B2C companies and any sectors not yet represented in our membership.
- Lead creative new member recruitment campaigns predominantly over online platforms.
- Identify any key barriers to businesses in a particular sector to joining the GBC and raise them with the CEO.
- Travel to trade shows, conferences, and other events as required for in-person recruiting.
- Work with the Communications Department to create effective membership recruitment materials.
- Manage systematic follow-up with potential members and refer the largest organisations to the CEO to develop a direct relationship with them.
- Undertake appropriate background checks as part of the accreditation process.
- Protect the GBC brand, by identifying any potential threats to its reputation and alert the CEO.
- Investigate any concerns about members raised through the charity’s whistle-blowing mechanism.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**
- Experience in sales that involves in-person recruitment, cold calling and follow-up. Proven record of sales success required. Must excel at meeting and talking with prospective members, building rapport with prospective members, and closing sales in a professional manner.
- Must be creative in developing new areas and methods for member recruitment and implement them.
- Energetic, positive, professional, and self-motivated personality with effective oral and written communication skills required.
- Experience within an association membership department specialising in sales and membership recruitment is a plus.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strongly motivated, energetic and able to work flexible hours.
- Must have an interest in ethical capitalism and responsible business behaviour.
