The department of Clinical Pathology is looking for a Clerk Telephonist to join our Admin & Clerical Team based mainly in the Main Office at QMC Campus. The main focus of the role is to provide a telephone helpdesk service for the department which involves answering queries regarding test results, giving advice on appropriate sample types and acting as a first line of contact for other sections of the department. The postholder will also provide clerical support to the scientific and medical staff of the department as and when required.

Main duties of the job

The role would require working within a team to complete all daily tasks and general duties including filing, dealing with paper copy results, answering the phone and general reception duties.

Good communication skills and the ability to prioritise workloads, in view of changing priorities are essential. Also the need to work under your own initiative is necessary.

Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE level in maths and English, Grade C or above
- Able to plan own work and meet agreed targets on an ongoing basis

Experience

- General office experience, including reception work.

Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of the Breast Screening service
- Experience working within breast screening or a similar department

Communication and relationship

- Experience of good customer care and interpersonal skills

- Experience of telephone enquiry work

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
