We are looking forward to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST3+ / Specialty Doctor level) for an exciting opportunity to enhance his/her clinical skills in advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery. The posts will mainly be based at Ysbyty Gwynedd District General Hospital, Bangor; although few sessions may be at Llandudno General Hospital.

All appointees will also be offered training opportunities in upper & lower GI Endoscopy.

North Wales services for the management of gynaecological and urological cancer requiring complex pelvic resection have been centralised to Ysbyty Gwynedd. The post holder will be expected to join a team of highly skilled Onco-surgeons for performing complex pelvic resection.

The Senior Clinical Fellow is encouraged to participate in the teaching of medical students (from Bangor University in collaboration with Cardiff University School of Medicine) and take part in research, audit and quality improvement projects.

The post holder will be accountable to a team of two Consultant Colorectal Surgeons. He/ she will have independent duties as deemed appropriate by the consultant.
- Provision with colleagues of a service in the specialty to the Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness and the proper functioning of the department.
- Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and for contributing to postgraduate and continuing medical activity, locally and nationally
- Participation in medical and clinical audit
- Involvement in research to the extent that clinical duties allow
- The post holder will be responsible to the Clinical Director (Surgery) through the Lead Clinicians in General Surgery. Day to day responsibility will be to the Consultant to whom the surgeon is attached at the particular time

**In addition the post holder will**:

- Participate in outpatient clinics
- Provide clinical supervision to junior medical and nursing staff.
- Be involved in Multi-disciplinary team and other clinical meetings
- The daily smooth running of the ward will be the responsibility of the fellows in general surgery.
- Audit of clinical activities, evidence based medicine and maintenance of clinical governance will be expected.
