Think Family Safeguarding Practitioner

An exciting opportunity as a result of additional investment has arisen for a new post of Safeguarding Practitioner within the Think Family Safeguarding Service. Initially, the role will be to support the CFPH Specialist Safeguarding Nurse and will be based predominately at Wigan Life Centre with the co-located multiagency partners within the CFPH.
This is a full-time permanent post working co-hours Monday to Friday 9am to 5 pm, although a level of flexibility may be required.
The postholder will work as part of a dynamic multi-agency integrated team assessing safeguarding notifications and referrals regarding children received by the CFPH. The CFPH process includes searching and collating health information, with due regard to patient confidentiality; the CFPH Safeguarding Practitioner needs to interpret, analyse, and share the information necessary to safeguard and/or promote the welfare of a children.
As a Safeguarding Practitioner within CFPH your role will be to screen urgent and non-urgent contacts and referrals regarding children aged 0-18 years to gather health information from a variety of healthcare providers that will inform multiagency risk assessments and influence safeguarding responses.
This post will be a rotational post therefore the successful applicant will, following a period of induction and preceptorship within the CFPH, work within the Safeguarding Children Team based at the RAEI. The proposed rotational pattern will evolve to include set time in the hub alongside planned periods within the wider Think Family Safeguarding Service.
The post holder will be required to maintain significant relationships with multiagency partners including police, officers, social workers, education staff and wider health care professionals. There is an expectation to work across the Think Family Safeguarding Service as required with an ability to travel to alternate health premises.

On-Call
Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
The post holder will maintain links between relevant agencies and areas that care for adults at risk, children, young people, and their families to always ensure their safety and protection.
The post holder will have a record of continuing professional development.
The post holder will be required to show commitment to safeguarding, interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively challenge senior staff and staff from other agencies.
To work autonomously taking responsibility for care, quality and safeguarding concerns and referral(s).
To work closely with the Safeguarding Team to deliver the safeguarding children’s, young peoples, their families and adults contextual safeguarding and domestic abuse agendas across the organisation.
