Stafford, United Kingdom Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The Widening Access Programme at MPFT supports psychology graduates who are interested in developing a career in Clinical Psychology or in the wider psychological professions. This is part of a national initiative supported by NHS England, to improve equity of access to aspiring psychologists from disadvantaged backgrounds.

These posts are specifically funded to support future psychologists who have not had opportunities to obtain work experience in psychological settings due to social or economic disadvantage. This may include people who are from minoritised, racialised and/or marginalised communities, or those who have caring responsibilities.

MPFT are recruiting to 6 new assistant psychologist posts, all of which will be offered as split placements (with time in two clinical services) enabling post-holders to obtain a range of clinical experience in more than one setting. The posts will be across a range of clinical specialties, including mental and physical health settings. Bases are available across our organisation and include Shropshire, Staffordshire & services across the West Midlands region.

At MPFT we are committed to supporting future psychological professionals and there is excellent peer support from our numerous Assistant Psychology groups. We have close links to the Staffordshire Doctorate in Clinical Psychology as well as other regional training courses.

To support and enhance the professional psychological care of service users by assisting qualified practitioners in the delivery and evaluation of cost-effective services that meet Trust and Directorate objectives, national strategic and policy guidelines, commissioner requirements and user and carer needs and expectations.
