**Job summary**:
In this role you will help define the implementation of the Defence's reward strategy for Civil Servants. We are looking for individuals to assist in the ongoing development and improvement of our complex Reward, Compensation and Benefits strategy. We want to innovate the delivery of Pay and Reward and digitise services to make it straight forward for our employees.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
In this role you will:

- Support the development and implementation of an MOD reward strategy aligned to Defence outputs, TLB business targets and overall workforce vision
- Manage and maintain our compensation framework, ensuring pay levels remain market aligned, compliant with statutory and HM Treasury requirements and are underpinned by robust governance.
- Oversee the annual MOD Main pay award process, including modelling options, engaging with Defence Resources, Trade Unions and drafting CPLT/Executive board papers
- Provide expertise on reward governance and regulatory reward matters, oversee the design and execution of relevant remuneration policies/processes and be the focal point for Parliamentary and Ministerial correspondence.
- Lead on oversight of the 8 x MOD Arm’s Length Bodies, including submission of their annual pay remits to Ministers.
- Work across the award team overseeing a wide range of deliverables including support to our Non-Standard Occupational Groups, Overseas employees, and Pension requirements.
- Engage key stakeholders to ensure that compensation and benefits frameworks are relevant, valued and understood by the business
- Providing clear leadership, building capability, and nurturing talent. Ensuring the team continues to deliver high quality outcomes across the challenging agenda, often within tight deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to valuing and respecting the diversity of others.
- Line management of reward team members.

This is a fantastic opportunity to shape this diverse, fast paced role and make it your own, overseeing a team of Subject Matter Experts to ensure that relationships are built and maintained with internal stakeholders, across the MOD and the wider civil service providing excellent customer service on all aspects of pay and reward.

**Person specification**:
We are looking for an experienced senior HR professional who holds CIPD level 7, or a commitment to working towards this in post as well as equivalent experience, particularly in Pay, Reward and developing, interpreting or implementing HR policies and procedures.

You will have experience of providing guidance and robust recommendations to stakeholders, where your exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills will allow you to influence and challenge at all levels.

Excellent communication skills are pivotal to this role with the ability to provide sound written advice.

You will be highly organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced role that moves and develops quickly, using your own initiative and working with autonomy.

In addition, you must be a skilled leader, comfortable using your judgement and a considered approach to make difficult decisions.
