The Maternity Team within the Children, Young People and Maternity team are looking for a dynamic, passionate and committed individual to join the team to lead key projects for the Equality & Equality Maternity and Neonatal programme. The national Equity and Equality guidance for maternity and neonatal services, published in September 2021 mandates 5 key priority areas for local maternity and neonatal systems to develop and deliver a co-produced plan in order to reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes for those with greatest need.

This post will focus on our responsibility to deliver against public health, equity and equality and CORE30PLUS5 programmes of work. Work will be aligned with the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) priorities and with the population health and health inequalities workstreams.

To work in partnership with all public health midwives, infant feeding coordinators, specialist midwives and nurses, public health specialists, analysts, other programmes within the Integrated Care Board, the regional network and other partners to ensure there is a clear and credible plan for all providers to deliver against public health, equity and equality and CORE20PLUS5 programmes of work, including, to standardise policies, guidelines, training and communications, and to develop a system-wide strategies and plans based on data intelligence of population health need and service user insight.

The Lancashire and South Integrated Care Board (ICB) was formally established as a new statutory body on 1 July 2022, replacing the eight clinical commissioning groups across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Our role is to join up health and care services, improve people's health and wellbeing, and to make sure everyone has the same access to services and gets the same outcomes from treatment. We also oversee how money is spent and make sure health services work well and are of high quality.

Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB is a highly complex organisation serving a population of over 1.8 million people.

Listed below are the responsibilities this role will be primarily responsible for:
Leading the transformation in culture to ensure prevention is a high priority within all maternity units and associated local systems.

Ability to operate autonomously as a professional.

Ability to work at a strategic level with excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

Experience of writing and presenting reports to senior managers, management teams, boards etc.

Experience translating national, regional and local policy into action.

Experience of working within a multidisciplinary system including the NHS, local authority and voluntary sector.

To have knowledge and understanding of confidential information management.

To be able to identify, analyse and interpret information and act as an information resource to the Local Maternity System Board

Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Ensure appropriate records are kept and that these are available for audit purposes if necessary.

To be able to provide advice on public health issues as required on behalf of the LMS board.

Convene and co-chair meetings.

An understanding of the key issues and challenges in improving population health during the antenatal and post-natal period.

Co-produce the prevention implementation action plan with maternity units and embed into routine practice.
