**Revenues Officer - Shrewsbury (Temp Vacancy)**

**Pay Rate**:£20.79ph**

**Full-Time (37 hours)**

**Job Purpose**:
The main purpose of the post is to provide administrative, and customer focussed support within a Revenues Team to assist towards the Revenues Service meeting its performance targets and aspirations.

**Accountabilities**:

- To accurately maintain and update council tax account records to ensure prompt billing and collection of council tax using the council’s computer system
- To maintain a knowledge and awareness of all aspects of Local Taxation legislation and regulations
- To assist in the effective and efficient collection of outstanding council tax due to the council
- To propose and check refunds of overpaid council tax for accounts in credit
- To deal with customer enquiries by telephone and letter in accordance with Service standards
- To provide a high level of customer service at all times
- To negotiate and monitor arrangements within the guidelines set in the Council’s collection policy
- To liaise with various external agencies and organisations and relevant officers or agents of the Council in respect all council tax liability matters
- To communicate with third parties such as employers, DWP, CAB in relation to billing and collection of council tax as appropriate.
