**The ACE Programme**
We are looking for ambitious, curious individuals who are motivated for a career in professional services to join the firm in September 2023, with a view to complete a 2-year apprenticeship in one of our legal and business support areas.
The **A**pprenticeship **C**areer **E**xcellence programme is a structured scheme, combining paid work experience with a qualification suited to your chosen area, lasting for two years in length.
Throughout the apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to learn business skills, develop your professional network, gain practical experience and work on exciting projects with experienced professionals who are dedicated to your development and progression.
**The Team**
Two of the key strands within the firm's ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) strategy are Just Purpose and Inclusiveness & Diversity. Our Just Purpose (corporate responsibility) programme makes pro bono, community, and sustainability visions a reality in partnership with civil society groups (charities, social enterprises, and not-for-profit organisations). Our Inclusiveness & Diversity work is embedded in the culture of the firm, ensuring that barriers to inclusion are removed and equity is prioritised through staff networks, policy change, and outreach.
You will be part of a team of eight people, who are located across the UK offices.
**Programme Responsibilities**
The role will primarily include the following tasks:
- Working closing with the Just Purpose team to implement the firm's corporate responsibility programmes
- Gathering data on the engagement in, and impact of, Just Purpose
- Helping to run dynamic events and campaigns for our charity partners and pro bono clients
- Organising volunteering opportunities
- Supporting the delivery of pro bono work (including projects on disability rights, child rights, refugee rights, and environmental protection)
- Using internal communication channels to encourage staff participation in our work
- Drafting written content for our internal and external audiences
- Liaising with other offices to increase our international opportunities and develop our strategy
- Supporting administration (keeping records, managing internal filing systems etc)
- Preparing reports and presentations
- Keeping abreast of corporate responsibility trends and researching new opportunities
- Helping to design and organise internal I&D events
- Serving as a liaison for the firm's four I&D networks
- Using social media platforms to promote the firm's I&D initiatives
- Working with the in-house communication team to draft and promote internal I&D events
- Working with the Just Purpose and I&D teams on client pitches and data requests
- Working closely with the recruitment team on joint I&D/recruitment initiatives
- Supporting ad hoc projects and tasks as required
**A bit about you**
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths grades 6-9 (A-C)
- Good understanding of Microsoft office packages (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Curious and flexible
- Eagerness to learn
- Driven and determined for a career in professional services
- A good understanding of our firm and our values
- Demonstrable interest in working with civil society groups (not-for-profit organisations) - experience volunteering or fundraising for a charity, for example
- Ability to work with individuals at all levels, both externally and internally
