**Job Description
- What You'll Do**
The Principal Sourcing & Origination - Metals will be accountable for the commercial value arising from creating, developing, and driving the execution of Structured Origination for Metals (with a _clear focus on Base, Battery Materials Precious Metals (Gold, Silver _), and _PGMs _, its pipeline and deals that underpin the delivery of long-term value within risk tolerances and governance frameworks and specific commodity trading strategies.
**Performance & Delivery**
**Leadership**
- Establish, develop, maintain and grow relationships with Senior Executives from prospective and existing counterparties (i.e. CEOs, CFOs, Heads of BD at mining houses, financing institutions, different types of funds) worldwide.
- Effectively manage and support the personal and professional development of direct reports and ensure team achievement of agreed business targets.
- Initiate working relationships beyond immediate team, fostering cross-commodity collaboration, innovation and synergies for the Marketing BU.
- Lead by example to embed the Marketing behaviours as the way the Marketing BU works together.
**Origination, Sourcing Strategy**
- Develop and execute a Sourcing and Origination strategy as part of the BM/PGMs and the AA Marketing strategy that includes not only potential deals but also alternatives to de-risk and finance them.
- Grow, manage and develop a Metals lead pipeline, including identification and definition of non-equity metals to be included in the AAML metals portfolio.
- Provide strategic decision-making support during strategy reviews and support identification of commercial and marketing value initiatives; trends and new opportunities for Marketing BU and commodities
- Research external industry, competitive, and commercial trends that can impact Anglo American, including gathering of competitive intelligence and insight from cross-functional sources and disseminating it to appropriate groups
- Generation of commercial insight and identify growth / improvement opportunities: undertake complex quantitative and qualitative analyses that facilitate the assessment of established commercial approaches and initiatives.
- Strong focus on the development of ethical value chain between third party metals flows and downstream clients.
**Target Delivery**
- Develop, strengthen and manage existing and new counterparty relationships (finance institutions, insurance, banks, investment, debt and private equity funds, logistics providers etc) globally, that allow for sustainable future pursuit of Structured Origination related deals
- Actively participate and co-lead multi-player negotiations with commodity producers, financial institutions and other participants of the commodity supply chain (i.e. logistics providers/shipping companies)
- Deliver committed P&L related to Structured Origination activities across BM and PGM commodity marketing teams, including a multi-disciplinary planning calendar with key related activities
- Ensure target returns are met including effective structures which meet balance sheet requirements
- Formulate and execute a multi-disciplinary planning calendar with key related activities.
**Organisation and Growth**
- Constantly maintain and strengthen the interaction with AA unique technical skills (i.e. technical, corporate finance, production, corporate affairs, etc)
- Design and develop the structure within BM/PGMs to underpin growth of Structured Origination activities in the future.
**Stakeholder Management**
- Manage relationships with a broad range of internal stakeholders and external counterparties (suppliers, financers, insurers, producers, etc), ensuring an ‘excellent service level’.
**Risk and Governance**
- Deliver the commodity _regional / global _Trading strategy within Marketing’s defined risk and governance framework.
- Coach others to embed a zero-breach culture.
- Complete responsibility and ownership of Front Office contribution to the implementation of any new risk management systems regarding physical commodity transactions.
- Ensure all physical trading transactions are executed within approved limits.
