A common feature for many children and young people with special educational needs is marginalisation and disadvantage, trauma, dysfunctional family relationships, low educational attainment and stigmatisation. Subsequently they face many barriers in lifeand are more 'at risk' of negative outcomes. You will be instrumental in providing consistency, and equipping children and young people with tools to ensure they feel safe, secure, empowered, and believe that they can succeed in life.

**Look no further** We have a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Godalming who are looking for an Aspiring Occupational Therapist to work as a SEN Learning Support Assistant for the remainder of this academic year. You will be supportinga small class, working in partnership with the school's teaching staff and support staff team to deliver specific interventions.

**The key questions to always remind yourself of when considering this role, are**:

- _Am I sincere and driven about empowering and supporting young people with SEN?_
- _Can I make the student's life just that little bit better today and keep them safe?_

**Professional Skills & Requirements**:

- Having personal / voluntary / professional SEN experience would be great, but is not essential
- Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups
- Support students academically and pastorally
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to plan learning activities to suit pupil ability with support from a teacher
- Manage behaviour in-line with the school's policies and ethos

**Personal Qualities**:

- Able to encourage the development of social skills and support students' individual needs
- Helping to boost self-confidence and self-esteem of students
- To build robust relationships with children
- Passionate about helping children to achieve their full potential
- Able to build confidence and motivation
- Ability to build robust and effective relationships with students
- Ability to remain calm and resilient when placed in situations of stress or conflict
- Caring, compassionate, and a good listener
- 5 days a week (Mon-Fri) & £70-£80 per day - dependant on skills and experience
- Excellent on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of students
