**SENCO - SENDCo - Special Needs Coordinator**

**The School**:
The school is based in Woking and provides support for children aged 5-11 years. A number of students that attend the school have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP), which details their specific needs in terms of the care, and support they willhave access to.

The school prides itself in being a happy nurturing environment, where children can flourish and achieve. They believe that all of pupils have unique gifts and talents; they have a particular way of seeing the world which gives them strengths in other areas.The school aims to capitalise on these strengths.

This role is paramount to the student's continued development towards their qualifications and future aspirations.

**SENCo - What is involved?**
- Working alongside the school's Head Teacher and SLT in promoting a shared vision of the school.
- Manage the student's EHCPs and make sure that suitable interventions are in place.
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the school's SEND policy
- Coordinating provision for children with SEND
- Liaising with and advising fellow teachers
- Managing Teaching Assistants
- Overseeing the records of all children with SEND
- Liaising with parents of children with SEND
- Contributing to the training of staff.
- Liaising with external agencies including the LA's support and Educational Psychology services, health and social services, and voluntary bodies.

**SENCO - What is required?**
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Knowledge and/or a keen interest and understanding of specific learning need such as dyslexia
- Dyslexia training and qualifications are highly desirable and will result in a higher salary
- You will ideally be a qualified SENCO or working towards the accreditation.
- You will have a history of outstanding teaching and be passionate about the welfare of children and their learning.
- You will be a role model amongst colleagues displaying strong leadership and organisational skills.
- January 2023 start, or sooner for those that are available.
