Early Years Team Leader

1. To fulfil the job role of Room Leader in the room in which you are based, see relevant Job Description.
2. To work in partnership with your Nursery Manager to ensure the smooth running of the nursery in line with company policy and Ofsted regulations.
3. To work in partnership with your Nursery Manager and the Head Office Team in a flexible manner and deputise as appropriate.
4. To lead and manage the nursery in the absence of your Nursery Manager as and when required.
5. To share ideas and information with the Nursery Manager on the day to day practice of the setting that will support continued improvement and development.
**Key Areas**
1. To use a range of leadership and management skills to support and empower the nursery team to develop their skills, knowledge and experiences (such as mentoring, role modelling, shadowing and peer observations etc).
2. To model leadership and management skills, develop team work, partnership working and to delegate where appropriate.
3. To work with the Nursery Manager to ensure the safe, legal and good practice of the nursery. This may include deputising for the Nursery Manager, attending meetings, dealing with parents, finances, complaints etc.
4. To assist the Nursery Manager with all administrative and financial duties associated with children, parents, staff and the nursery as a whole.
5. To lead on supporting, delivering, developing and reviewing practice to ensure high quality standards of care, education, teaching and learning through monitoring, evaluating and reviewing of provision.
6. To liaise with your Nursery Manager and Head Office team and other Children’s Place practitioners who can support you in your role.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
1. To be a positive member of the Nursery Management Team and to interact, engage and contribute to the team and nursery development. This may include team meetings, planning, training and general development of the nursery environment etc.
2. To work with your Nursery Manager to ensure the safe, legal and good practice running of the nursery. Taking a lead role at certain times of the day including the opening and closing of nursery, deployment of staff, ensuring ratios are maintained at all times, dealing with parents, finances or complaints etc.
3. To lead and support with all aspects of the Key Person role, including initial visits, registration, day to day contact (care routines, observation, assessment and planning, parent feedback etc.), parent’s information sessions/evenings, transition etc. using the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework and Development Matters as a guide.
4. To assist with practitioners CPD and training through induction, supervisions and performance management.
5. To assist the Nursery Manager in the recruitment and selection process as appropriate.
6. To assist the Nursery Manager with the efficient preparation, maintenance and up keep of the resources, materials, equipment and building. Reporting any concerns you may have to your Nursery Manager.
7. To be aware of, understand and implement all performance management policies, procedures and action plans. Also to assist the Nursery Manager in monitoring, reviewing and evaluating practitioner’s compliance.
8. To assist with the planning, organisation, development and maintenance of all associated administrative tasks and paperwork such as First Steps, staffing schedules, occupancy, finance, collection of fees/outstanding fees, purchase ordering and health and safety etc.
9. To work with the Nursery Management Team to ensure the safe, legal and good practice running of the nursery. Taking a lead role at certain times of the day including the opening and closing of nursery, ensuring ratios are maintained at all times, dealing with parents, finances or complaints etc.
10. To understand and adhere to Children’s Place Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, including the Prevent Duty. To be aware of up to date legislation in relation to safeguarding. To act promptly and appropriately in matters relating to Safeguarding and Child Protection by referring to the Nursery Manager who is the lead safeguarding officer. In their absence the Deputy Manager or the most senior member of staff will fulfil this role. To attend case conferences and core groups as required.
11. To implement all Children’s Place policies and procedures and respect Children’s Place beliefs.
12. To understand and implement the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework at all times, including supporting documents e.g. Development Matters and to support the nursery team to do this.
13. To take ownership of the environment in which you work. Ensuring resources are looked after and well stocked.
14. To understand Children’s Place Ltd Confidentiality Policy and adhere to it at all times.
