**Basic Purpose of Role**:
The Network Planner role is an integral part of the business and the focus is on service profitability, punctuality, quality and efficiency.

The role holder will look to optimise supply and demand using data and will support the Network Performance Manager in rolling out and utilizing new technology for improving network performance.

**Key accountabilities**

***Reporting to the Network Performance Manager, supporting on the following:

- Monitoring and reporting on service profitability, and driving profitability improvement at route level
- Monitoring and making suggestions for improvement to punctuality performance through use of advanced technology
- Monitoring performance of the road network and, with support from line management, making suggestions to internal and external stakeholders (including local authority partners) with the aim of improving overall journey speed and reducing variability
- To identify local network growth initiatives through analysis, and to assist with smooth implementation of these
- To support with maximising revenue opportunities and cost efficiencies, through optimal deployment of vehicle fleet
- Support the Network Performance Manager in producing network or route development proposals with full cost/ benefit analysis, for submission to the Senior Leadership Team for approval
- Feed into, where required, the preparation of tender bids for submission to the Senior Leadership Team for approval
- Ensure that all bus service registrations are done in a timely manner
- Support to the Network Performance Manager for all other reasonable duties, as required

***Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required**
- Strong analytical capabilities
- Sound financial understanding and should be able to demonstrate experience of performing cost/ benefit analysis
- Commercial awareness
- Excellent communication skills
- Aptitude to build and maintain stakeholder relations
- Excellent customer service focu s
- Knowledge of the bus operating environment
- Geographical knowledge of West and North Yorkshire

- On time performance
- Miles per hour

- Report incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences in a timely manner and ensure effective remedial action is taken
- Promote and implement, where appropriate, safe working practices by means of campaigns, initiatives and to promote a positive attitude to safety through personal leadership
- Support the Company's environmental campaigns and be aware of FirstGroup annual environmental targets
